ICBC of China is our first choice for foreign banking in China. They have a simple process and only require a US Passport and valid visa. It takes approximately 10 minutes to open an account and costs 5 RMB. The account does not have to be funded right away and you will be given a debit card before you leave. The debit card is not personalized, but the number is attached to your passport number, social security number, and visa. Expiration dates for the instant issue cards are more than four years.
